The required capacity depends on several factors, including the size of the room, ceiling height, insulation, and window orientation. As a general guideline, rooms between 8–28 m² typically require a 2–2.5 kW cooling capacity, rooms between 29–45 m² usually need a 3.5 kW unit, while larger spaces may require 5 kW or even 7 kW systems. To determine the ideal capacity for your property, we always recommend our free on-site survey.
Most modern inverter air conditioners are designed for both cooling and heating. Some models are specifically optimized for heating and can operate efficiently even at outdoor temperatures as low as -25°C. They offer an economical heating solution during transitional seasons and can even provide primary heating throughout winter, especially when used with preferential electricity tariffs such as the H or GEO tariff.
To maintain healthy indoor air quality, maximize the lifespan of your system, and comply with warranty requirements, we recommend servicing your air conditioner at least once a year. If the unit is also used regularly for heating, we recommend two maintenance visits annually: one before the cooling season (spring) and another before the heating season (autumn). Regular maintenance is essential to prevent the growth of mould, fungi, and bacteria that may contribute to respiratory illnesses.
Installing a standard wall-mounted split air conditioner typically takes 3–5 hours. This includes mounting both the indoor and outdoor units, drilling through the wall, installing up to 3 metres of piping (with trunking if required), vacuuming the system, and commissioning the unit according to the manufacturer's specifications. More complex pipe routes, special customer requirements, or certain wall structures (such as adobe or reinforced concrete) may extend the installation time.
We place great emphasis on keeping your home clean. During drilling, we use an industrial vacuum cleaner together with a professional core drilling system, which captures most of the dust at the source. After completing the installation, we thoroughly clean the work area, so you won't need to worry about cleaning up afterwards.
The H tariff is a discounted electricity tariff available for heat pumps and heating-optimized air conditioning systems. It is available during the heating season (from 15 October to 15 April) and can reduce heating costs by 30–40%. We provide the required product certificates for eligible equipment, which you will need to submit to your electricity provider when applying for the tariff.
The indoor unit should be positioned so that it does not blow cold air directly onto people—for example, towards a bed, desk, or sofa—as this may cause discomfort. It is also important to ensure unobstructed airflow, so furniture or curtains should not block the unit. During our on-site survey, our specialists will recommend the optimal location to achieve efficient air circulation while minimizing drafts. With proper placement, a single unit may even cool multiple connected rooms over time.
This is completely normal. When operating in heating mode, the outdoor unit functions as the evaporator, causing moisture from the air to condense and freeze on the heat exchanger. The system periodically enters a defrost cycle, during which the accumulated ice melts and drains away as water. Proper condensate drainage or a drain pan heater should be installed to prevent ice formation around the unit during winter.
Manufacturer warranties generally require regular professional maintenance (once or twice a year), documented by an invoice and a stamped warranty booklet. While you are not required to use the same company that installed the system, we highly recommend doing so. As the original installer, we know your system best and can often provide additional warranty benefits or discounted maintenance services for our own installations.
Modern inverter air conditioners are exceptionally quiet. In Silent Mode, indoor units typically operate at only 19–22 dB, which is quieter than a whisper. Outdoor units are also significantly quieter than older models. During installation, we use anti-vibration mounting brackets to minimize vibration and noise, ensuring the system operates quietly and without disturbing your neighbours.
